The awards were created in 2010 with a mission to honour those whose work has made an outstanding contribution to London and its lifestyle to the ultimate benefit of Londoners and visitors.Kinky Boots has become a favourite with UK theatregoers having won every major Best Musical award.
Kinky Boots has won three Olivier Awards for Best New Musical, Best Costume Design and Best Actor in a Musical for Matt Henry who plays Lola. Kinky Boots also won the London Evening Standard BBC Radio 2 Audience Award for Best Musical as well as three WhatsOnStage Awards for Best New Musical, Best Actor in a Musical for Matt Henry, and Best Choreography.

The show has extended into 2017.
