Kitsune Maison Vol.10: the Fireworks Issue, Various artists

The hip Franco-Japanese record label is celebrating ten years of breaking some of indie pop’s freshest sounds with two discs stuffed with – you guessed it! – some of indie pop’s freshest sounds.

Well, that’s the theory.

The reality is that a bit of filler is unavoidable. Still there’s plenty to get excited about including Guard’s ramshackle garage on Don’t Wake The Dead, the Italo-disco remix of Two Door Cinema Club’s What You Know, Aussie act Strange Talk’s scissoring electro track Climbing Walls and Brit DJs, Punks Jump Up’s warped dance tune Blockhead.

Elsewhere Alexis Taylor of Hot Chip’s vocals turn up on Justus Kohncke’s disco driven Sorry and Black Strobe club fave Me And Madonna gets a retread. Good fun all round.
