As reported in the Evening Standard, Mr Jones was treated by paramedics at the scene of the accident but died from his head injuries shortly afterwards.
According to the Daily Mail, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade have commented on the accident, and have said they were aware of Mr Jones’ death.
Consular staff have been talking with Mr Jones’ family and offering support.
No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.
