The perpetrator has targeted an Arrowtown address twice now, the first time grabbing clothing and underwear from a washing line in the back garden in April of this year. The second time occurred last weekend, in which the thief entered the house and stole clothing, again including underwear, from inside the property.
“There are elements to these crimes which are very disturbing not only to the victim but also for the wider Arrowtown community,” Detective Sergeant Brian Cameron has said of the crimes.
“I would expect that the wider community will be as concerned as police and that people will keep an eye out for suspicious activity not only on their own property but also that of their neighbours. Someone has come home with articles of clothing that are foreign to them – we would like to find that person.”
The police are asking for anyone with information to come forward so they can apprehend the underwear thief before they strike again.
