Lacanau Beach
The sandy beach draws surfers from across France and Europe, including pro surfers who compete in the Lacanau Pro, an official stage of the surfing world championship.
There are plenty of surf schools that are run on the beach, and cafes and restaurants opposite the beach for tucking into some food after a swim.
Cycle paths
The best way to get around the seaside resort town of Lacanau is on two wheels. Cycle paths connect the beaches, and lake with the town, and you can cycle through the pine forests in the area as well.
The Medoc region
Lacanau is only a short drive away from the wine region of Medoc. Plenty of chateaus are open for visitors to enjoy vineyard tours and winetasting.
Chateau Baudan in the Listrac-Medoc region is a gorgeous family-owned vineyard who produce red wines. The grapes are hand picked from the vines in October by students and family members.
