Lady Gaga has explained the video for Born This Way, saying the scenes of birth and death represent her hopes of creating worldwide unity.
The Born This Way video premiered yesterday and some fans thought the tripped-out birth shots too much to deal with.
One person tweeted: “Lady Gaga’s video for born this way was repulsive, congrats gaga, just lost even more respect for you.”
The seven-minute video for Born This Way shows Gaga giving birth to a mucous- covered alien creature and contains some pretty graphic womb and vagina imagery.
Lady Gaga’s meat dress “smelly and maggoty”
However, Gaga claims that no, she isn’t just out to shock, and that the video is “the story about the birth of a new race.”
Speaking to Radio 1’s Greg James, the Bad Romance singer claimed: “The song is very meaningful to me, so I wanted to make something that would really show what was going on in my head when I wrote Born This Way.”
According to Gaga, Born This Way represents her vision of “a race that bears no prejudice and a race that’s primary sort of ambition in life is to inspire unity and togetherness.”
So if you just saw slimy lady-parts in the video, shame on you!
