Pop star Lady Gaga is suing a New York based make up and jewellery company for attempting to use her name on its products.

Gaga’s lawsuit asserts that Excite Worldwide LLC applied without her permission to trademark the names Lady Gaga and Lady Gaga LG for a cosmetics and jewellery range.

The Grammy Award-winning pop phenomena is reportedly in the process of developing her own range of products with trademark pending for hair, body and nail products.

The suit says that consumers may be tricked into thinking Excite Worldwide’s products will be affiliated with her.

Gaga is fiercely protective of her trademark and name. Earlier this year she sued a London shop selling ice-cream made of human breast milk under the name of Baby Gaga.

Meanwhile, MTV reports that Lady Gaga's friends have allegedly warned her off new boyfriend, Taylor Kinney

Her chums reportedly worry that The Vampire Diaries actor may “break her heart” after his ex-girlfriend Brittany Sackett accused him of cheating on her.
