The Oprah Winfrey network said in a statement that the interview will be broadcast on 17 January.

“Armstrong will address the alleged doping scandal, years of accusations of cheating and charges of lying about the use of performance-enhancing drugs throughout his storied cycling career,” said a statement on an Oprah Winfrey Network website. 

Reports had suggested that the disgraced former Tour de France champion had told anti-doping officials that he was giving thought to admitting that he’d used banned drugs, though his lawyer later denied this.

Armstrong decided not to enter a defence against a USADA case claiming that Armstrong’s US Postal team had been involved in systematic doping of its riders.
