The scene: When we visited for Sunday brunch, the communal tables were overwhelmingly packed with young Antipodeans chasing a quality coffee. During the week it’s more of a mix thanks to Lantana’s proximity to Fitzrovia’s media land.
The grub: Finally – a café in London capable of serving heavenly poached eggs at reasonable prices.
Behind the bar: It’s all about the flat white. At £2.40 a pop, multiples can get expensive, but compare it to the dross they’re serving at Bigbucks and Costalotta, and paying for Lantana’s velvety cup of caffeine loveliness makes perfect sense.
Bill please: Two flat whites and poached eggs on sourdough toast came in at under a tenner.
Verdict: Just go there. This Antipodean café is the business. The service is stellar too.
