Teenage cancer trust’s evenings of world-class music and comedy are staged to help young people with cancer, and the charity’s Honorary Patron Roger Daltrey CBE, has announced this year’s superb line-up, which runs from 19th to 24th April 2016.

The line-up includes David Gilmour, New Order, The Vaccines, Everything Everything, Bring Me the Horizon, Simply Red and John Bishop.

2016 is the 16 year of shows which have seen the likes of Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Noel Gallagher, The Who, Oasis, Damon Albarn, Arctic Monkeys, Paul Weller, The Cure, Suede, Muse, Sir Paul McCartney, Tinie Tempah, Florence And The Machine, Kaiser Chiefs, Kasabian, Eric Clapton, Robert Plant, Sir Tom Jones, Johnny Marr, Biffy Clyro, Them Crooked Vultures, The Specials, Van Morrison, Pulp and many more all perform at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall.

Over the years Teenage Cancer Trust’s evenings of comedy have also read like a who’s who of British comedians, including Russell Brand, Ricky Gervais, Stewart Lee, Peter Kay, Steve Coogan, Frankie Boyle, James Corden, Kevin Richardson, Tim Minchin, Alan Davies, Jimmy Carr, Greg Davies, John Bishop, Rhod Gilbert and Jack Whitehall.

Teenage cancer trust’s honorary patron and the Who front man, Roger Daltrey CBE, is the driving force behind the shows. Roger Daltrey, said: “It’s hard to believe this is our 16th year at the Royal Albert Hall for Teenage Cancer Trust, and I’m very happy to be announcing such a varied line up. The money raised is invaluable to this charity, which receives no government funding in England, to help young people with cancer in the NHS. In return for the public’s hard earned cash, we aim to put on some very special shows. This year David Gilmour returns to the Royal Albert Hall to play for us. His show is so spectacular that at one point even the band has to wear sunglasses on stage, so it is certainly one not to be missed. I’m also very proud to welcome New Order to the Teenage Cancer Trust fold and this will be their first time at the Royal Albert Hall since 1986. Bring Me The Horizon come to us fresh from reaching 2 in both the UK and US album charts with their latest ‘That’s The Spirit’, they’re without doubt one of the most exciting ‘heavy’ bands around and we’re very happy they accepted our invite, the same with The Vaccines who are one of the best British bands out there. Simply Red are simply one of the most successful British acts of the past 30 years with over 60 million album sold and I know that Mick and co will put on a truly fantastic show that will be ideally suited to the Royal Albert Hall.

“We’re had so many incredible musical moments at these shows over the years but these moments are made even more special by the wonderful young people I have met. They shouldn’t have to stop being teenagers just because they have cancer. They are young people first – cancer patients second. With their incredible vigour and positivity as inspiration, we aim to keep Teenage Cancer Trust leading the world in cancer care for this age group.”

The shows have played a huge role in the growth of the charity, helping to take the total number of specialist Teenage Cancer Trust units across the country to 28 and to fund nearly 63 expert teenage cancer nurses and youth support coordinators.

From 2000 to 2015, over 200 artists will have performed at the Royal Albert Hall for the charity with nearly 500,000 fans in attendance including over 2,000 young people with cancer.

However, right now, for every young person with cancer Teenage Cancer Trust supports, there is another they currently cannot. This must change. By supporting Teenage Cancer Trust you are helping the charity get closer to the goal of supporting every young person with cancer in this country.

With his Teenage Cancer Trust show on 24 April, the voice and guitar of Pink Floyd, David Gilmour will be making it a round ten appearances at the venue on his current tour, promoting his new album ‘Rattle That Lock’, having already sold out five nights in 2015 and four more for September 2016.

The New Order show on the 23 of April will mark 30 years since they last played the venue. Their latest album ‘Music Complete’ was released last year to huge critical acclaim and has been described as their best in three decades.

The Vaccines will be performing their first UK show of the year on Wednesday 20 April. Their hugely successful third album ‘English Graffiti’ was released last year and immediately following the Royal Albert Hall date they will be embarking on a tour of the US.

Winners of Kerrang’s best live band Sheffield rockers Bring Me the Horizon will be bringing their own brand of madness and mayhem to the hallowed Royal Albert Hall on Friday 22 April. It will be a rare chance to see the band in an intimate environment before they embark on a major arena tour later this year.

2016 sees Simply Red celebrate over 30 years at the top. They’ve sold over 60 million albums worldwide, had 30 top 40 UK hits and have performed to over ten million people. Main man Mick Hucknall, who founded, named and fronts Simply Red will be bringing the band to the Royal Albert Hall on 21 April, during a break in a tour promoting their album ‘Big Love’ which will visit Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Iceland, Russia, Poland, Latvia, Spain, Czech Republic, Spain, Germany and Italy.

Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall wouldn’t be complete without an evening of comedy. Returning to the iconic venue on 19th April, for the first time since recording his best-selling ‘Supersonic’ DVD, will be one of the nation’s favourite comedians John Bishop, hosting a night of stand-up with very special guests.

This year’s shows are generously supported by associate sponsors Domino’s Pizza Group, Sky Betting and Gaming, Tangle Teezer, and American Airlines.

Further incredible support is provided by media partners Absolute Radio, Metro and NME.
