Shopping in Putney
Putney High Street is where most of the shops are located while some shopping extends onto the Upper Richmond and Lower Richmond Roads and Putney Bridge Road. Highlights include:
Putney Exchange
This is a small shopping centre on the high street. Shops include Waitrose, Argos, River Island, Gap, Tie Rack, Waterstones and Cargo Living.
Putney High Street
The high street is filled with shops that sell clothing, electrical goods and mobile phones. Stores include United Colours of Benetton, Jigsaw, Currys, Sony Ericsson, HMV, T-Mobile and Phones 4u.
Sainsbury’s
A decent-sized Sainsbury’s is situated off the high street on Werter Road
Food and drink
Putney is filled with plenty of pubs, restaurants and bars to keep you entertained. While there are lots of chains (like Nandos and The Slug and Lettuce) it manages to avoid feeling overrun with them, offering a good balance of the familiar and the new.
Mezza
A bit off the beaten track, Mezza is located on the quieter Lower Richmond Road. It’s not much to look at but it serves fab Lebanese food.
Moomba
Stylish café/bar on Lacy Road that’s serves modern cuisine. Great place for breakfasts.
Hare and Tortoise
Very reasonably priced Japanese food on Upper Richmond Road. This place is always busy in the evenings.
The Spotted Horse
This recently refurbished boozer is located on the high street and is superbly comfortable and cosy. Great food too.
Duke’s Head
Another great Putney pub that does excellent food. Situated on the Thames, it gets quite a crowd drinking pints and Pimms on the riverfront during the warmer months.
