A Halloween rave in London’s Holborn turned into chaos and resulted in several injuries when police moved in to close it down on Saturday night.

500 people turned up for the Scumoween party in the disused eight-storey building, hoping to dance through the weekend.

However at 23:20, the police were called to shut down the rave and ordered everyone to leave the venue. Things turned nasty when the Territorial Support Group moved in to boot out stragglers.

Allegedly, some of the party goers turned violent resulting in several metropolitan police officers being injured and a number of people being arrested.

According to the metropolitan police, bricks were thrown at officers as they surrounded the building and tried to disperse the gathering.

A woman in her 30s was taken to hospital with a cut face.

However, despite the reported violence, the rave continued until 16:30 on Sunday with 30 sound systems and 200 DJs.

According to a man who attended the rave, London can expect more events like Scumoween.

“There will be a resurgence of this sort of thing because of the economic situation. It’s mirroring what happened in the last recession. It never went away but now it’s in your face again, ” he said, adding that the police had been “very understanding”.

Was your Halloween this fun?
