London Marathon

What: It’s one of the capital’s real showpiece annual events and this year, once again, about 30,000 runners take to the streets. Some world-class athletes will be on show but the real star is the city itself; its many landmarks are all visited along the race’s jinking route.

When: April 17.

Do it because: If the weather holds, it’s one of the city’s great days out, with thousands lining the streets to cheer competitors.
