A man was attacked by looters wielding a fire extinguisher during last week’s riots, shows CCTV.

A clip emerged on Crimewatch after Met Police officers spent 20,000 hours watching CCTV footage to track down rioters.

During the clip caught on camera in Clapham Junction at around 10.20pm last Monday, the man – a bystander – seems to be trying to prevent a group of rioters from breaking into a Carphone Warehouse store.

One of the hooligans then sets off a fire extinguisher in his face, which covers him in foam – which contains chemicals that are harmful if ingested – before smashing the shop window to loot its stock.

Police appealing for the victim to come forward.
