London School of Samba, the UK’s first Samba school, have been participating in Notting Hill Carnival every year since1984, and it has become tradition that before their Carnival season commences, the school carefully choose a brand new Carnival song to be sung and played at the Carnival in August.

This competition is one of a kind and invites talented musicians to compose a song to be judged on the night by a combination of an expert judging panel and the members of the school.

After the auditioning has taken place, the vibrant surroundings of Barrio will be filled with Carnival themed celebrations, and London School of Samba will do what they do best and put on a mesmerizing performance with their dancers and live band for the members of the public to enjoy. Barrio’s irresistible Latina food and drink menu will be in full swing, so thirsty guests can sip on refreshing Mojitos and Rum Shackles whilst they enjoy the colourful performance.

The theme chosen this year by the members is ‘Somewhere under the Rainbow’, and Carnival Committee member Kanika Findley-Chin explains it has been selected to ‘explore the symbolism of the rainbow in different cultures’, and it promises to make for a ‘diverse, eye catching and memorable Carnival parade’.

Barrio Shoreditch’s exotic surroundings and quirky interiors make it the perfect location for this evening of sizzling samba from the UK’s original Samba School, and this night is a wonderful opportunity for music and carnival lovers alike to witness the raw talent and vibrancy that makes the Carnival performances so popular.

Barrio Shoreditch, 141-143 Shoreditch High Street London E1 6JE T Tuesday 15th March 9pm – 1am.
