A total of 1083 Trek fans dressed up in costume and congregated at the London convention to break the world record for the number of costumed Trekkies in place.

The convention in honour of the long running science fiction show also set a new record – the UK’s first Klingon marriage.

Swedish couple Jossie Sockertopp and Sonnie Gustavsson got married in full-on Klingon costume, with the ceremony performed in the garbled guttural language of the franchise’s alien race.

On Friday the convention, which was the first in the UK for more than a decade, brought together on stage all five of the series captains of the Starship Enterprise. Scot Bakula, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew, Sir Patrick Stewart and Captain Kirk William Shatner himself came together at the convention on Friday (pictured below minus Stewart).

Around 17,000 fans of the show, which birthed six TV series and no fewer than 11 films, hit up the two-day event in London last weekend.
