Preparing for the long weekend? London has some events to keep you busy.
Pendulum
The Perth outfit, who are credited with taking a defibrillator to drum ‘n’ bass, and jolting the genre back to life – blew the roof off every festival and venue they played at this summer, and they’re only getting better. This will be one seriously stonking gig.
Greenwich Beer and Jazz Festival
Beer and live jazz on the banks of the Thames. Not much of a hard sell required, really. Basically, it’s a great excuse to get into the swing of summer festivals early on. It’s hosted at the Old Naval College, and celebrates more than 200 beers, real ales and ciders from the best British breweries, spread over five days, and the Fun Lovin’ Criminals headlining this year’s event.
England vs Barbarians
The Barbarians play great rugby. Sadly, the Poms aren’t quite as good. Catch the Baa-baas and their tradition of running rugby at Twickenham on Sunday.
Lady Gaga
Glam-pop tabloid favourite Lady Gaga is as famous for her wacky fashion sense as she is for her electro-flavoured pop hits.
Brick Lane curry festival
If you’ve got a taste for Indian food, don’t miss Brick Lane’s curry extravaganza. You can sample the best curries of the area at Vibe Bar on May 31. Plus, there will be live music, dancing and a free beer to wash the spicy stuff down with.
