Ljubljana in 2-3 days

Day 1

Walk around the old town, stopping to admire the Baroque buildings and drink coffee on the banks of the Ljubljanica River. Take the funicular railway up to the Castle for a bird’s-eye view. Pop in the Modern Art Museum and wander through the edgy Metelkova district.

Day 2

Hire a bike and get cycling like the locals. Go to Park Tivoli or, if you’re up for more of a challenge, cycle the Trail of Remembrance though the lovely countryside just outside the city.

Day 3

Pick one of the nearby attractions and head out of the city. The limestone caves of the pretty Karst region are a good bet, but beautiful Lake Bled is also easily accessible.

In one week

Get out and see the rest of Slovenia.
