Getting There

Once you have arrived in Italy, the easiest way to get to Lucca is by train. The closest airports are Florence and Pisa, both which can be reached direct from London airports. Lucca train station is located outside of the city walls, a short walk from the walls’ southern entrances. Trenitalia train services run from Pisa to Lucca. The journey is about 30 minutes from Pisa Centrale and about 40 minutes from Pisa Airport. Trains between Florence and Lucca take about 1.5 hours.

Getting Around

Lucca is a small city that is best explored on foot. It is the easiest way to get around and travel around the narrow Tuscan streets. Many locals get around on bikes and hiring one is also an excellent option.

Exploring further from Lucca trains are the easiest and fastest way to get around to the local towns, however there is a bus station located inside the city walls which runs services to Florence and other nearby locations.
