One of the UK’s best kept secrets is back in London at Bloc on 19 June, after its sold-out debut in December 2014.

Prime exponents of glitter and costume based mayhem, Magic Door has grown from its home in Birmingham into something of a small phenomenon: in an age of headline DJ-led led shows, the team behind Magic Door place the emphasis on the experience as well as the talent performing. This has seen them curate a string of shows which have all sold out before the first tune has been played, with the special guests announced on the night.

A vast team of playful entertainers, make-ups artists and DJs create one of the most thrillingly random, most eccentrically vibrant, most off-kilter and hedonistically fun-focused parties the UK has to offer, akin to looking down the rabbit hole filtered through a good old fashioned rave. For their second London show, Magic Door’s residents Jukes of Hazard and Deano Ferrino are joined by London’s Wildkats who are revealed as the party’s new London residents.

“We are all really happy to be returning to London, following on from our first sold-out show over Christmas,” says Jit Patel, one of Magic Door’s founders. “We are also thrilled to announce Wildkats have joined our little family as our London residents. They were already friends of Magic Door and we love partying and hanging out together so for the way we run the party it’s a really great fit. We couldn’t really imagine not wanting them around our London parties so it really made sense getting them fully involved.”

As part of a packed summer, Magic Door will also be bringing its blend of music and magic to Lunar Festival in Warwickshire just outside of Birmingham in early June, then travelling to Croatia for the 10th and final Garden Festival across the first weekend of July, and to the electronic music feast Eastern Electrics at the start of August. More news is to come shortly regarding more very exciting plans for later in the year.

At Bloc on Friday 19 June, expect all of the usual frills and thrills from a Magic Door party: think secret guest DJs, Crafty Girls, G.O.D, the Devil, Magic Beans, a lorry load of glitter and other makeover silliness, mind bending visuals and of course… a real Magic Door.
