Seth Horovitz ordered a TV on the online retail site through a third party electronics seller, but much to his surprise, a long, rectangular box arrived on his doorstep, inside contained a Sig Sauer 716 patrol rifle.
“When I saw some metal parts inside the box, I thought, ‘Maybe this is a TV stand or mount or something,’” Horovitz told website Wired.com of his surprising discovery.
“When I realised it was an assault rifle, it was pure shock and disbelief.”
After contacting the police, Horovitz discovered further that his new semi-automatic weapon was in fact illegal in the District of Columbia in which he lived, and so had it confiscated, too.
