Although, in truth, the man’s arrest was probably more to do with the fact he had decided to sunbathe on a deckchair in nothing but a pair of Speedos on a busy London street…and was more than a little bit tipsy.

The man, described to The Evening Standard by an onlooker as being “very tanned, with a ponytail and appeared to be in his 50s or 60s”, unfolded his deckchair on Rivington Street in Shoreditch, outside The Barley Mow pub, yesterday afternoon.

His sunspot of choice meant he got in the way of road traffic, and bemused pedestrians going about their day. When policemen asked him to move and he refused, they arrested him.

Well the sun shining is so rare in this country, can you really blame the guy?

Scotland Yard said a man was arrested at 5.11pm in Rivington Street for being drunk and disorderly.
