After seeing a porcupine get run over, he rushed not to offer aid, but to extract high-value minerals from the animal’s stomach.
As he made an incision, Jared discovered an unborn baby porcupine and the mushroom rummage soon became an unplanned c-section.
Quick-thinking Jared cut the umbilical cord and performed a life-saving massage, and the porcupette was resuscitated.
It now resides with the Buzzell family, who are feeding him using a doll bottle while waiting to give him away to a suitable wildlife rehabilitator.
