A man was to undergo surgery on Saturday night after being stabbed in the stomach at Hamilton’s Frankton Markets.

The attack happened in Commerce St about 9.15am, as an argument between the two men escalated, said Senior Sergeant Kent Holdsworth, of Hamilton police.

The victim was taken to Waikato Hospital where he was due to undergo surgery. His injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident.
