Ed Houben, from Maastricht, Holland, has another ten children on the way and sleeps with around 15 women a month in the hope of getting them pregnant.

He is believed to be the most prolific professional babymaker in the world, and his job is totally legal.

But ten years ago, he didn’t get laid a lot.

He confesses: “Ten years ago, I was not exactly David Hasselhoff in Baywatch.”

Houben has been around the world to sew his wild oats, and has children in New Zealand, Italy, Spain, France and Holland aged between nine years and two months old.

He usually waits for women to come to his home but he does make exceptions if his clients are at a particularly fertile period.

He began donating sperm to clinics, but then discovered websites, such as spermaspender.de, that let him procreate the natural way.

He says: “From my own experience, statistically natural insemination is faster. If people are coming all the way from Italy, they don’t want to be trying for three years.”

And Houben’s sperm count helps, at a rather high 100 million, and 80 per cent of the females he sleeps with getting pregnant.
He jokes: “I don’t fire blanks!”

Sperm counts between 80-100 million mean good prospects for conception.

But the women he sleeps with aren’t those he’d choose as sexual partners.

He says: “This isn’t Heidi Klum coming round and saying: ‘Let’s do it’.

“It’s genuine people who I would never want to hurt. I have a good old fashioned Catholic guilt feeling and I would be a candidate for therapy if I did this for the wrong reasons.”

A German family lawyer said: “If all the mothers decided to sue him for maintenance he would be paying them off for the rest of this life, and the next.”

On Houben’s web page, he says he would like to raise children of his own with a partner.

And his current girlfriend is very accepting of his job, he says.

“My girlfriend says that what I do only makes me more interesting,” he adds.
