Rather than chastising Abbot for the inappropriateness of his comments, though, Latham decided to weigh in with his own opinions, landing himself in some pretty hot water, too.
“It showed very bad judgement and it shows he has low standards,” Latham said in an interview with Melbourne radio station 3AW of Abbott’s comments that politician Fiona Scott has “a bit of sex appeal”.
He then went on to say though that Scott “doesn’t have sex appeal at all” and that Abbott must “have had the beer goggles on.”
Radio host Tom Elliot countered that Latham’s comments were even worse than those which saw Abbott branded sexist by Kevin Rudd, but Latham continued, claiming that Abbott’s comments were a blatant attempt to win over male voters.
