The fire broke out yesterday afternoon in Covent Garden market, with diners forced to flee the establishment before the fire brigade arrived to bring the blaze under control.
“Around 100 people escaped from the building before the brigade arrived,” said a London Fire Brigade spokesman.
“A small amount of lead flashing on the building was also damaged in the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
A total of 21 fire fighters attended the scene which broke out in Jamie Oliver’s Union Jacks restaurant, one of four branches across the country which serve nostalgic British classics with artisanal ingredients.
