Radio 1 DJ Matt Edmondson will host this year’s Xtra Factor.

The 25-year-old T4 host will co-front ITV2’s X Factor spin-off show, along with an unnamed female presenter – rumoured to be either The Saturdays’ Frankie Sandford or Kimberley Walsh of Girls Aloud fame.

Stacey Solomon is also thought to be in the running for the role.

Former host Konnie Huq was axed after a raft of gaffs. For example, after Cher Lloyd was kicked off the show, Huq said to her: “What a night it has been for you, a night of dreams”.

Kimberley Walsh has spoken out of her support of Tulisa Contostavlos in her OK! magazine column. She wrote: “I think Tulisa would be a great choice – you need someone who’s currently making relevant music.

“Following on from Cher Lloyd’s success on last year’s show, I think there will be a lot more acts of that ilk so it’s important to have someone who understands that type of music and as N-Dubz are part of the new music movement, Tulisa, who’s opinionated but warm, would be ideal.”
