There are a hundred, million places you could be celebrating the Melbourne Cup and there certainly isn’t room to list them all here. Leave the outrageous hats and potentially life-ruining (or life-making) bets to those with the cash to flash.
For us simpler-folk, we’ll take a beer garden and cheap BBQ instead. The College Lawn Hotel in Melbourne is throwing a great shindig that you’d do well to drop in on. $15 BBQ from 11am, drink specials and steak night from 6pm if you manage to stay all day. There’s even a fashion competition for the ladies with a $100 bar tab on offer.
