Getting There

Melbourne Airport has both an international and domestic terminal and is well serviced by many international carriers. To get to or from the airport you can catch the Skybus which leaves every 10-15 minutes and costs $16 one-way and $26 return.

Expect to pay $80-85 if you catch a taxi from the airport to the CBD.

If you’re travelling with Jetstar from within Australia you’ll fly into Avalon airport which is actually closer to Geelong. It takes about an hour to get into the CBD and there are bus services timed to coincide with Jetstar’s flights. Tickets on the bus cost $19 each way.

Getting Around

Once you’re settled in, Melbourne’s trams will quickly become your transport of choice. If you’re staying in the inner city, trams are the only way to travel. Trams run in and out of the CBD along all the major arterials. They’re easy to use and are a great way to see Melbourne — memorise the right route and you can’t go wrong.
