The PCSOs have been disciplined for larking about in a police parking garage back in February this year, filming a chaotic Harlem Shake routine complete with flashing blue lights, with one man doing a disco jig whilst wearing a traffic cone on his head.
The thorough investigation into the police officer’s hi-jinks took four months. Six of the Police Community Support Officers, – civilian members of police staff – were given official written warnings, with one officer resigning from his job.
A spokesman for Met Police said the incident showed “unprofessionalism in the workplace.”
“Appropriate misconduct procedures have been taken regarding those involved and the matter is now closed.”
The Harlem Shake viral phenomenon started with a group of teens from Queensland, Australia and rapidly spread across the world through video uploads to YouTube.
