The American director worked on the last film Transformers: Dark of the Moon, which was the fourth most lucrative film of all time, earning 1.2 billion dollars worldwide.
The director has worked on each of the Transformer movies, which are adapted from the original American cartoon series and toy line.
Steven Spielberg, who has been producer on the Transformers films, will also come back to work on the fourth film.
“Steven Spielberg and I are working on a whole new re-imagining of Transformers, the fourth instalment. We have been working on the idea for a few months. I’m excited about where it’s headed,” he said on his official website, www.michaelbay.com.
“But first I’m doing a small 20 million dollar edgy black comedy of a true crime story set in Miami called Pain And Gain, starring Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson, and very close to signing on a couple other great actors. I’m extremely excited to simplify my film career this spring with a great character piece.”
