How long have you been living here?
Since June.
How much do you pay?
$150 per week.
What do you get for your cash?
The price includes all internet usage, electricity and water bills, air-conditioning, washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, front and back garden, barbeque and a garage.
What’s the best thing about living here?
I think it’s a really good place to come if you’re travelling by yourself. I’ve made friends with loads of people in the houses, so I’ve never felt alone. There’s always stuff going on at the weekends in various houses. There’s never a dull moment.
What’s the worst thing about living here?
Maybe the sound of the aeroplanes overhead. But they only happen a couple of times a day – you don’t notice it after a while.
Pros…
You don’t have to fork out for a bond.
Most rental accommodation in Sydney is unfurnished.
Your weekly price includes all bills.
All the cleaning of common areas is done for you.
You’re only sharing a room with one other person, whereas in a hostel it could be seven others.
This service cuts out the hassle of looking for housemates, checking out properties, etc.
Cons…
You’ll still be sharing a room (albeit with only one other).
Slightly more expensive than hostel accommodation.
You can’t choose your housemates.
Minimum stay periods are sometimes required.
