British Greg Cox, 31, is an entrepreneur who lists Peaches Geldof among his Facebook friends.
The businessman – who in recent years has lived in a £1 million flat in Battersea – is alleged to have met the woman he is accused of raping at the Bucket List nightclub.
The assault is alleged to have occurred on January 22 between 11.10pm and 11.30pm. But Cox has denied the allegations.
The millionaire has been ordered to hand over his passport and £68,000 in bail. He is to appear at a Sydney court on April 3.
A spokesman for New South Wales Police said: “A 31-year-old man is charged with sexual intercourse without consent.”
