The 38-year-old from Jakarta told police that following a circumcision her son’s penis ‘appeared to shrink’.
A police spokesman said that the mother had told officers she killed him “as he would have had a bleak future with his small penis”.
“She drowned her son in a bathtub filled with water. She then dressed him and laid him on a bed. After that, she went to a nearby police office to report her crime,” the spokesman added.
Psychological assessments of the woman have been ordered before a decision over what charges she will face in reached.
