Not only that, but 47-year-old Gedu Bibi persuaded her daughter to take the blame, it is claimed.
Bibi is said to have disapproved of 21-year-old Sumon Miah’s relationship with her daughter, Shuhina Khanam.
Jurors at the Old Bailey heard that it was after Miah showed Bibi topless photos of her daughter – which he claimed to have posted on the internet – that she arranged for him to be killed.
The mother allegedly recruited her ex, Lilu Miah – who is not related to the victim – to carry out the murder. The 21-year-old Miah was bludgeoned to death with a chair leg.
It has been claimed that Bibi persuaded her daughter to tell police that Miah came at her with a knife and she hit him in self defence.
Both Bibi and Lilu Miah have denied murder and perverting the course of justice.
