First released in the early to mid ’90s, the best music on this set (one disc a best-of, the other filled with rarities) was as responsible as any out there for fostering the boom in alt-country a few years back.
At their peak on tracks such as Waiting For The Sun, Miss Williams’ Guitar and Big Star, Minneapolis’ Jayhawks made it all sound effortless.
And though a few cuts are quibble-able, this best-of does a pretty fine job of capturing their big-hearted, country-rocking appeal.
