Despite the fact that only two of the foursome are featured in this line up Brian May and Roger Taylor are still touring under the queen banner to belt out hits like Bohemian Rhapsody, Under Pressure and Somebody To Love.
Freddie Mercury is simply, one of the finest frontmen ever to grace a stage. Long gone but not forgotten, his singer duties have previously been taken on Paul Rodgers but for this trio f London shows among the band’s tour, Adam Lambert will be taking mic and vocals responsibilities.
Not so much of a name on this side of the pond, he was a runner up in a series of US show American Idol and, as so often happens with the runners up rather than the shows winners, has taken quite step into the limelight, more so than the ‘winners’.
Stepping into the shoes of one of the most famous frontmen of all time is no mean feat, though, but Lambert thankfully doesn’t attempt to emulate Mercury, but instead does the songs proud but in his own voice and, as evidenced by the trio’s performance at London’s New Year’s Eve celebrations, he is more than up to the task. They’ve got two nights at The O2 and one at Wembley Arena, so plenty of ops to check ‘em out.
