The hapless man climbed into the top-loading machine on Saturday afternoon, with the aim of surprising his girlfriend when she arrived back at their flat. However, he soon realised that he couldn’t get out, and police had to cover him with olive oil in order to free him.
Speaking to the Herald Sun, Sergeant Tim Gleeson said, ”He was trying to surprise his missus and became stuck; the officers greased him up until he was free.”
