New band – The Growlers: Long Beach fourpiece play Sixties-style garage-rock

The buzz so far Hung At Heart, the debut album from this Long Beach-bred five-piece – Brooks Nielsen (vocals), Matt Taylor (lead guitar), Scott Montoya (drums), Anthony Perry (bass) and Kyle Straka (keyboards, guitar) – is a collection of Sixties-styled, garage-rock psychedelia-dabbling beach party tunes perfect for long summer evenings, ideally with the surf lapping in the distance and a cool beer in hand.

They’ve toured with The Black Lips and Julian Casablancas, and will be landing on these shores soon.

The plug Hung At Heart is out April 29 through Fat Cat Records.
