The married US politician admitted that he engaged in fresh explicit online exchanges with a young woman under the pseudonym “Carlos Danger” reports The Telegraph.
His wife Huma Abedin, in a joint press conference on Tuesday, had said: “It took a lot of work and a whole lot of therapy to get me to a place where I could forgive Anthony,” she said. “But I made the decision that it was worth staying in this marriage… for me, my son and our family. I love him, I have forgiven him, I believe in him.”
The New York Times and some of Weiner’s rivals called on him to drop out of the race.
The newspaper said “the serially evasive” Weiner “should take his marital troubles and personal compulsions out of the public eye, away from cameras, off the Web and out of the race for mayor of New York City”.
