Vieux Nice (the old town)
Wander around the narrow streets of Nice’s old town. Stop for a coffee or a meal in one of the many town squares.
Promenade des Anglais
This 5km long walkway was created for the 19th Century English tourists who would take their evening stroll along the waterfront. Nowadays you’re more likely to see rollerblades than parasols.
Market
Flowers, fruits and other foods are on sale in the city’s main market in Vieux Nice.
Musee d’Art Moderne et d’Art Contemporain (MAMAC)
This modern art museum hosts a range of French and American art from the 1960s to now. The Pop Art section, featuring work by Andy Warhol among others, is a highlight.
Open: 10am-6pm Tuesday to Sunday
Closed: Mondays, January 1st, Easter Sunday and December 25th
Tickets: €6
The beach
OK, so it is a pebble beach but the water is a shade of blue you’ve never seen before. Give yourself at least a day to do nothing but laze on the beach and eat icecream.
