Lawson, 53, applied to divorce Saatchi, 70, on the grounds of his continuing unreasonable behaviourand during the hearing, the marriage was said to have irretrievably broken down.
Lawson also confirmed in the document that they were living apart, reports the Daily Mail.
The pair now have to wait for a decree absolute, which is usually issued six weeks and a day later, ending their marriage.
The couple’s marriage ended after Mr Saatchi, 70, was pictured choking his wife before releasing a statement to the press a few days later to say that the marriage was over — without giving her any warning of his intentions.
