The double-amputee who has competed at Paralympic and Olympic Games is fighting a charge of premeditated murder in Pretoria.

Nike’s announcement comes as Pistorius’s bail hearing entered its third day.

“We believe Oscar Pistorius should be afforded due process and we will continue to monitor the situation closely,” the company said in a statement.

When the shooting charge arose, Nike dropped its campaign which featured Pistorius and the slogan, “I am the bullet in the chamber.”

Sunglasses manufacturer Oakley has already axed its £1.3m sponsorship of the South African superstar.
