The NME Awards 2011 will be announced tonight as a massive industry bash with some of the biggest names in music lined up to scoop honours. Arcade Fire and Foals are expected to be big winners, having both been nominated in four categories.
NME’s public poll attracted over half a million votes as showed their love or otherwise for this year’s artists.
Close on the tail of Arcade Fire and Foals are My Chemical Romance who have three nominations. Dave Grohl is set to pick up NME’s Godlike Genius award at the event.
Arctic Monkeys, Biffy Clyro, Foals, Kasabian and Muse have all been nominated for one of the night’s biggest prizes, Best British Band.
In the Best International Band category Arcade Fire, Kings Of Leon, My Chemical Romance, The Drums and Vampire Weekend have all been nominated.
New bands up for NME awards include Beady Eye, Everything Everything, Hurts, The Drums and Two Door Cinema Club.

In the non-music categories, David Cameron and Nick Clegg weren’t too popular with NME readers and are both up for the Villain of the Year award.
Meanwhile, Wikileaks founder Julian Assange and My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way are in the running to be Hero of the Year.
Cheryl Cole, Justin Bieber and Ke$ha got a slating in the style categories, and have been nominated for the Least Stylish award.
The Shockwaves NME Awards 2011 is being held tonight at the O2 Academy in Brixton, south London.
You can watch the Awards on Channel 4 on Saturday night at 11:20pm (GMT). Earlier in the day, at 11:25am on the channel, T4 will broadcast their coverage of the ceremony.
