New Zealand were 214 for four at lunch on the final day of the first cricket test against Bangladesh in Chittagong, 105 runs short of victory at the Divisional Stadium.
New Zealand resumed on 145 for two with Aaron Redmond on 62 and Daniel Vettori (0) but lost the opener for 79 and Ross Taylor for nine as Bangladesh kept their hopes alive in the opening session.
Skipper and nightwatchman Vettori was unbeaten on 36 at the interval with Brendon McCullum (1).
