The one-eyed suspect was accused of murdering PC Fiona Bone, 32, and PC Nicola Hughes, 23, in Manchester on Tuesday. Appearing at Manchester Magistrates’ Court, he was also accused of murdering Mark Short and his father David as well as four counts of attempted murder. He will appear at Manchester Crown Court on Monday.
Flanked by five armed officers, Mr Cregan, who wore a dark blue sweatshirt and had grown a beard, spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth.
But before the suspect was arrested after a five-week manhunt, he is thought to have stayed in the plush Plas Coch resort on the island of Anglesey, north Wales. Witnesses claimed he was seen him splashing around happily in the luxury heated swimming pool, reported the Daily Mail.
A second man, Stephen Garvey, 28, who was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder in connection with the deaths of PCs Bone and Hughes is also being questioned. Police have until Saturday morning before they must release or charge him.
