A woman reportedly called Auckland police at 9:40 pm after her car was broken into in central city in Auckland.
Inspector Vaughn Graham of Auckland police said that while the car had been damaged during the break in, the only thing that had been taken was a packet of gummy bears.
“Officers followed a trail of Gummy Bears to a nearby bus shelter where a man who appeared to be intoxicated was asleep and surrounded by discarded gummies,” said Inspector Graham to NZ Fairfax.
The thief with the indelibly sweet tooth has been charged with theft as well as willful damage and is due to appear in the Auckland District Court this week.
The next sugar hit this guy might be getting could come in the form of a prison shiv… Or a visitor in the shower.
