Osama bin Laden’s 12-year-old daughter says her father was captured alive and taken into custody before being shot by American special forces.
Arabic TV channel Al-Arabiya also reported that the girl had told Pakistani security services that she had witnessed the troops execute her father bin Laden before dragging his body to a helicopter.
Bin Laden’s newest and youngest wife, Amal Ahmed al-Sadah, was also shot during the raid in the compund. She is at the moment being treated for her injuries in a military hospital in Pakistan.
American investigators have demanded to speak with bin Laden’s wife. However Pakistani authorities have refused their request, and are saying that Ahmed al-Sadah will be sent to her home country of Yemen once she’s recovered.
US authorities first said that there had been a firefight when bin Laden was killed but this has been denied by senior Pakistani security officials.
One official said: “Not a single bullet was fired from the compound at the US forces and their choppers”.
Fears that bin Laden could be hiding a bomb under his clothing have been confirmed by US officials.
A senior US politician later revealed: “He would have had to have been naked to allow him to surrender.”
US counter-terrorism chief John Brennan explained: “He could have surrendered only if he did not pose any type of threat whatsoever.”
Bin Laden did not wear a suicide west, but did have a getaway kit sewn into his robe including 500 euros and two emergency phone numbers.
