In a press conference Gauteng Police have said that Steenkamp and the arrested man – reported to be but not confirmed by authorities to be Olympic and Paralympic star Pistorius – were the only people in the house at the time of the shooting.
South African media is widely reporting the fatal shooting of 30-year-old model, law graduate and TV presenter Steenkamp, who was allegedly wounded by four shots in the head and arm at Pistorius’s home between 4am and 5am on Thursday.
Police have said that reports of an “alleged break-in” or that “the young lady was allegedly mistaken to be a burglar” were not given by South African police.
